FAQs / Help

When are you open?

Monkey Forest is a seasonal attraction. We open school holidays and weekends in February and March, before opening daily until October half term. Our dates and opening times change slightly throughout each season so please see our opening times and dates page for the current season dates.

How much is it?

Adults are £9.00 and Children (3-14 years old) are £7.00 (2019 prices). Save money by booking online today!

Can I buy tickets online?

Yes, simply click here to buy your tickets online. Tickets can be purchased when you arrive from our ticket kiosk too.

How long are online tickets valid?

When buying tickets online we ask you to select the date you’re visiting, but all tickets purchased online are valid until the end of the current season. Please see our opening times page so see seasonal opening dates and times.

Do we need to book in advance?

No need to book in advance, unless you are an education group that requires an educator. Tickets can be purchased on arrival at the ticket kiosk or online. If you are unsure, please call us on: 01782 659 845.

How do I get there?

If you’re driving please follow the SATNAV postcode ST12 9HR. For all other directions see our ‘how to find us’ page.

How long will it take?

Monkey Forest is the perfect half day attraction for all ages and most visitors spend around an hour and a half to 2 hours within the monkey enclosure before visiting our onsite information centre, video room, play areas, café and shop.

Monkey Forest can be teamed with other attraction on The Trentham Estate for the perfect full day out, such as Trentham Gardens, Trentham Shopping village or Peak Pursuit’s Treetop Adventure.

Can we hold/touch a monkey?

No, our monkeys are wild animals and out of respect for the monkeys and according to out park rules you must stay at least a meter’s distance at all times

Are there food facilities?

Yes, there is an onsite Banana Café which serves a selection of hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks.

Can I bring a picnic?

Yes, there are multiple picnic areas situated outside the monkey enclosure. Please note, food is not allowed within the monkey enclosure, but there is an area situated on the entrance gate where you can leave your bag. Make sure you obtain a raffle ticket and collect it on the way out.

Do you have allergy free food in the café?

Yes, we do. Please ask a member of staff in the café for more details and options or for the allergy free book.

Will I see monkeys if it rains?

Yes, the 140 monkeys live in freedom within the 60-acre forest and therefore visitors will always see them. The Barbary macaques are well acclimatised to the UK weather, as in the wild they would face harsh winters and long hot summers.

Can I go out of Monkey Forest and re-enter on the same day?

Yes, if you want to leave the Monkey Forest premises, to visit The Trentham Estate, or collect things from your vehicle, you need to get a stamp from the Banana Shop which allows you to re-enter. Please be sure you are aware of the closing times before you leave

Is Monkey Forest suitable for wheelchairs?

The ¾ of a mile pathway is wheelchair friendly, however, there are some steeper slopes which some wheelchair users may struggle with. Please ask our guides about our wheelchair friendly route.

We often recommend just stopping and watching the monkey antics unfold before your eyes - it’s also a great opportunity to get some brilliant pictures! If the slopes which lead to the second group of monkeys is not accessible, we suggest doing this and follow the path by the side of the stream. Please ask any of the guides in yellow about this.

Do you hire wheelchairs?

No, we do not have wheelchairs to hire at Monkey Forest. Please visit accessibility page.

Do we have a hoist in the disabled toilet?

No we don’t. If you need any special requirements, please call us on: 01782 659845 and if we can help we will.

Can we take pushchairs in?

Yes, that is fine.

Can I bring my dog?

No, dogs are natural predators of the Barbary macaque and are not allowed. However, if you have a guide dog we are happy to keep the guide dog in the onsite office whilst you enjoy the forest. Please call us to arrange this beforehand: 01782 659 845.

Is it ok for pregnant women to visit?

Yes, absolutely fine.

Will you donate a prize for our charity event?

Due to the large volume of requests we get, we ask if you can email all details about the event, charity or organisation to info@monkey-forest.com. We then pick 50 organisations at random each month and donate tickets.
